Phoenix Golf Courses

Phoenix Arizona has more of the USA Top 100 golf courses than any other city. There are dozens of Phoenix golf courses to play. Some of the Phoenix golf courses are more challenging than others. Some have better scenery, but there are plenty of choices for everyone.

A popular Phoenix golf course is the Club West Golf Course and is rated as one of the top 20 places to play golf in Arizona. It is a course that is designed around a desert theme. The Club West Golf Course runs through the foot hills near Phoenix in the Sonoran desert. There are many different types of holes in the course which can encompass as many as 7,000 yards. With lush Bermuda fairways, it is a great golfer's destination.

Other Phoenix golf courses include the three courses at the Desert Mountain Complex, all of which were designed by Jack Nicklaus. The Renegade Course was Nicklaus' first creation at Desert Mountain. Most golfers will find that it suits their level of play because there are five tee boxes and two pin placements. This allows players to customize play to their skill level.

The other two courses of Desert Mountain are the Geronimo Course and the Cochise Course. Geronimo has a spectacular layout, allowing golfers to play over deep ravines and along stunning plateaus. The last hole is perhaps the most striking, going over a canyon that separates the two-tiered green.

The Cochise Course is said to be one of America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses. A major championship of the Senior PGA Tour is held at Cochise, and players love the course. It has been voted the Best Maintained Course by the Senior PGA Tour members.

Troon North Golf Club is another of the favorite Phoenix golf courses. Troon's Monument Course has also been ranked in America's top 100 golf courses. The major landscape feature in sight is Pinnacle Peak. Prices are high, perhaps partly due to excellent maintenance of the greens. However, Troon Monument Course is well worth golfing. The newer course at Troon is the Pinnacle Course, and it presents some unique challenges.

The Legends Golf Resort at Arrowhead offers one of the best phoenix golf courses you can play. It was designed by golf great Arnold Palmer. It is a very unusual course, with many surprises. Interestingly enough for a desert course, water is a major feature of the course.

Water hazards are also plentiful on the Ocotillo Golf Club. It has 27 holes for the golfer to contend with, and 24 of the holes are involved with the lakes. The greens often have either two or three tiers. There are 112 sand traps to avoid or escape. The regional competition of the PGA Tour Qualifying competition is held at the Ocotillo Golf Club.

The Stonecreek Golf Club is a very hilly course, but one of the more popular Phoenix golf courses. The LPGA uses the Stonecreek course for the Mitsubishi Pro Am competition every year. It is a fine, challenging course.

There are many great Phoenix golf courses for you to play. It does not matter whether you are a novice or a seasoned professional. You can find a golf course in Phoenix that will suit your skill level. On many Phoenix golf courses, pros and beginners can play together, using different tee boxes and pins. All that remains is to choose a course and set up a tee time.

Womens Golf Clubs

For years the woman golfer has been abandoned to fend for herself. If she did go onto the course, many times it was with a man's set of clubs as womens golf clubs were virtually non-existent. The times, however, have changed. Women are seeing the need for a set of clubs designed especially for them. The manufacturers are seeing this need as well and are producing many styles of womens golf clubs today.

There are many differences between the men's and women's golf clubs with weight and length being two of them. Clubs are designed now with lighter heads and shorter shafts and many female golfers have been able to find womens golf clubs that are comfortable to play with.

There are many different manufacturers of women's golf clubs. Each one styled to be pleasing to the eye. The slim, colorful designs are made for easy handling and a better game. Some of the womens golf clubs are very lightweight. This allows the woman golfer to get a better swing in her game. The shorter clubs allow her to have more control of her game.

Many womens golf clubs are manufactured for the woman with a height of 5'5" to 5'9". There are many female golfers who could not comfortably fit this set of clubs because they are shorter. There are certain manufacturers who have recognized this problem and addressed it. Now the woman golfer can find womens golf clubs designed for someone of a shorter stature. Generally, when the height is not specified, you know the club was designed for the taller golfer, usually between 5'5" to 5'9".

The woods are now being made in lighter weights as well. This allows the woman golfer to have a faster swing. She will also achieve more distance on her drive and with a lighter club, she can feel more secure in her game. Women who have their own clubs are more confident on the course. They feel comfortable knowing they are playing with a set of womens golf clubs designed for them and not for a larger male golfer.

When buying womens golf clubs choosing the irons can be troublesome. If you can find the lightweight irons, this is a good thing as it gives the woman a better swing. The club is also much easier to control. More and more of the women golfers are shying away from the irons in favor of the woods. The utility woods seem to be easier to hit. The hits are more consistent with the 7 wood or the 9 wood. There are many women golfers who have replaced their irons altogether and opted for the woods. You will see many women with a set of woods in their bags instead of the standard golf set. The 3 iron and the 4 iron are being replaced with the 7 wood and the 9 wood. The result of these changes are greater distance and more accurate shots. The ball coming off a wood seems to go straighter as well.

For the short game, the woman golfer should find womens golf clubs that are lightweight. Again this is for easier handling. The shorter clubs are also more comfortable to handle. The wedge is designed and sold by the degree of the loft. The woman golfer will have to choose her own personal preference with these clubs. When it comes to the putter, the feel must be right. When choosing a putter, the height of the woman golfer must be considered. Any woman under 5'5" should feel comfortable with the putter which measures 33 inches. For someone taller, it is suggested that personal preference determines the length.

It is not hard to buy a good set of womens golf clubs. Most of the time it will boil down to a personal preference and comfort. It is important to remember many manufacturers have now developed a line of womens golf clubs just for the female golfer and they should not have to rely on the larger and heavier men's clubs.

How To Swing A Golf Club

The Importance Of Learning How To Swing A Golf Club

Golf is a very unique sport that requires more than just physical agility. One must be completely focused, as well as physically limber to perform the tasks at hand. Much like any other sport, endurance is not the entire equation for a successful game. You must able to accurately control all of your muscles involved, keep a steady hand, and always have complete mental focus for the entire game. However, there is one aspect of golf that is the heart and soul of the game. And that is the art of the how to swing a golf club. Many people may think that swinging a golf club doesn't take much agility or sportsmanship; however, those who think this couldn't be more wrong. In order to play this sport successfully, you must master how to swing a golf club, however, this has taken many people their entire lives to even come close to achieving their perfect golf swing.

Seeing that the golf swing is a mysterious, and yet powerful, form in the game of golf, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of golf schools across the country. However, if you don't have a basic understanding of how to swing a golf club, than these schools aren't going to do much good. The golf swing is the result of many variables working together for one goal. Your upper body must work as one, all the way from your hips to your wrists. Also, your lower body must be stable and maintain a constant level of durability and flexibility. The best golf swing tips must start from the foundation of the golf swing, and then work their way up to the golf club. That is, when learning how to swing a golf club you must start from the bottom up.

How To Swing A Golf Club - The Proper Technique

First you must start with your foot positions when setting up for a golf swing. The distance between your feet will vary depending on the type of golf club that you are using, however, most of your golfing clubs will require your feet to be at least shoulder length apart. However, if you are using longer clubs, than you will want to widen your stance by an inch or more.

How To Swing A Golf Club - Short Club Methods

The same type of rule is for whenever you are using shorter golf clubs, except the rule is reversed. If you are swinging with shorter golf clubs, than you will want to narrow your stance slightly compared to the original, shoulder-length stance. Having proper footing while playing golf is extremely important because your feet are the foundation for your entire golf swing, however, if you have improper footing, than your entire golf game will be affected by this.

The next major tip in learning how to swing a golf club is to analyze how you initially swing the golf club? Whenever you are going to swing the golf club, you must first organize your arms, wrists and shoulders to work together as a team. Make sure that you do not carry any tension within your arms or hands. One of the biggest mistakes that beginner golfers make when first practicing how to swing a golf club is using their arms as the source of all the golfing power. Whenever you do this you are interrupting the golfing tempo, and will loose the control that you need in order to have a successful golf swing. Another tip is making sure that you do not allow your club to fall below parallel with the ground in your back-swing, or when you initially set-up your golf swing. Whenever you allow the golf club to fall below parallel with the ground, you will be loosing the control of your down swing, which will ultimately end in a failed swing attempt.

Like anything else worth doing learning how to swing a golf club boils down to getting the fundamentals down and practice, practice, practice.

Cheap Golf

Golf trips are a great way to connect with old friends or simply to brush up on rusty golf skills that sit sadly neglected during long months of winter or times when the business of living makes the pleasure of the greens a distant memory. Golf is one of those sports that you either love or hate (unfortunately you do most of those within every single round). For this reason it is great to plan cheap golf trips that allow you to get as much of this wonderful sport in as your nerves can handle.

There are many cheap golf courses located across the United States and around the world. Check out various locations that are of interest and check out the local golfing climate. If budget is a consideration (and really there aren't many people that consider money no object) be sure to check out the public courses available in the area in which you wish to play and do not limit yourself to forking over the high dollars that private courses charge non members. Green fees will vary according to the part of the country in which you are playing. A cheap golf trip to New Orleans (a great idea when there's a foot of snow on the ground in Detroit) playing on a public cheap golf course can net much lower green fees (Audubon Park Golf Course has fees of $30 on weekdays and $40 on weekends including cart fees) than in Chicago where rates for public cheap golf courses begin at around $55.

Another great way to make your golf trip a little more affordable is to stay in outlying areas rather than in large cities. You will spend a little more time traveling to and from the golf course but you will save a good deal of money on lodging that should more than make up for the extra gas (assuming of course that the prices don't rise too dramatically in the near future). If you can find good rates in and around the area of the golf location you choose then all the better but make sure that you take the time to compare prices and check out any package deals for golfers that are offered as well as discount tickets they may have for local cheap golf. Some of these discounts are quite nice such as two players for the price of one.

Another great way make a great cheap golf trip more affordable is by choosing tee times that are less popular (such as twilight tee times). Many courses offer cheap golf discounts on later tee times. When on vacation this makes those later tee times a little more enticing. You can even manage on occasion to work two games into one day if you are inclined and able to do so. It also allows for a little taking in of the local sights and sounds early in the day and a little cheap golf to make the end of the day a little more enjoyable and exciting. Not all courses offer this sort of cheap golf discount though a good many do.

Any of these ideas can save a great deal of money individually, when combined they make a cheap golf trip that may have once seemed out of the realm of possible quite doable. They are definitely worth checking into at any rate as they could save you some serious green when it comes to greens fees when traveling or playing locally.
