Cheap Golf

Golf trips are a great way to connect with old friends or simply to brush up on rusty golf skills that sit sadly neglected during long months of winter or times when the business of living makes the pleasure of the greens a distant memory. Golf is one of those sports that you either love or hate (unfortunately you do most of those within every single round). For this reason it is great to plan cheap golf trips that allow you to get as much of this wonderful sport in as your nerves can handle.

There are many cheap golf courses located across the United States and around the world. Check out various locations that are of interest and check out the local golfing climate. If budget is a consideration (and really there aren't many people that consider money no object) be sure to check out the public courses available in the area in which you wish to play and do not limit yourself to forking over the high dollars that private courses charge non members. Green fees will vary according to the part of the country in which you are playing. A cheap golf trip to New Orleans (a great idea when there's a foot of snow on the ground in Detroit) playing on a public cheap golf course can net much lower green fees (Audubon Park Golf Course has fees of $30 on weekdays and $40 on weekends including cart fees) than in Chicago where rates for public cheap golf courses begin at around $55.

Another great way to make your golf trip a little more affordable is to stay in outlying areas rather than in large cities. You will spend a little more time traveling to and from the golf course but you will save a good deal of money on lodging that should more than make up for the extra gas (assuming of course that the prices don't rise too dramatically in the near future). If you can find good rates in and around the area of the golf location you choose then all the better but make sure that you take the time to compare prices and check out any package deals for golfers that are offered as well as discount tickets they may have for local cheap golf. Some of these discounts are quite nice such as two players for the price of one.

Another great way make a great cheap golf trip more affordable is by choosing tee times that are less popular (such as twilight tee times). Many courses offer cheap golf discounts on later tee times. When on vacation this makes those later tee times a little more enticing. You can even manage on occasion to work two games into one day if you are inclined and able to do so. It also allows for a little taking in of the local sights and sounds early in the day and a little cheap golf to make the end of the day a little more enjoyable and exciting. Not all courses offer this sort of cheap golf discount though a good many do.

Any of these ideas can save a great deal of money individually, when combined they make a cheap golf trip that may have once seemed out of the realm of possible quite doable. They are definitely worth checking into at any rate as they could save you some serious green when it comes to greens fees when traveling or playing locally.
